Hi I'm Jessica and I'm new to all this, I only got my new phone on a pay monthly contract today so of course I went and sorted out all my settings so I could play
anyway one of The first things I did was turn wifi on and connect to our router, then I had fun going on Internet, downloading apps and games, suddenly I get a text saying I've nearly used all my data!!! How is this possible? I thought using wifi was supposed to save your data... The Internet is very slow too, I thought my blackberry was bad this is awful, at least I could use wifi without it charging me though!

It sounds like you are not connected to your wifi. Have you checked the connection in your settings, If you have used all your data then this is why internet is slow as data is slowed. This again would point to you not being connected via wifi.
Speak to customer service on 202 and explain the situation, they may just reinstate your data as a goodwill gesture.

Wi-Fi use is free, but your phone will go back to GSM if it sleeps.
Turn off data in your phone and you can use the internet as much as you like.
Your wi-fi access speeds will be limited by your home router which may not be set up optimally.

I agree with jonsie it doesn't sound as if you're using wi-fi at all.
Which phone do you have?

Make sure data is switched off in settings. Switch wifi on only.
