my sony xperia is locked the touchscreen unresponsive and turn off by button not working how do I remove the battery

No, the link is to the soft power down,
For battery disconnection, as @MI5 says there is a rectangular button in sim slot, you press it until you feel 3 quick vibrations and it will force a reboot.

hi.. m2 has a Non-removable battery.. take the phone to an 02 shop to be looked at
