What sometimes works is to go into application manager and uninstal the updates for Google Play Services, then let the phone update them again.
It's not a 100% fix but can help - Sony are aware and have said they will issue a bug fix soon but it seems it's not just Sony that is effected so I guess Google need to sort it out......

Hi,

Sometimes turning it off and battery pull (handset dependant )helps cures many issues.

Ensure your on the most recent firmware.

You could hard reset after making a back up to save your data.

Edit to replace broken link.

Let us know how you get on.

Dial *#*#7378423#*#* (spells "service")which will access the service menu.
You can run tests from here to check out various phone functions.....

You're welcome.

I assume turning the handset off and on does not help ?

Other options are contacting the phone manufacturer under their uk support site ,or as a last resort let O2 repairs take a look.

Hope this resolves for you ok.

Hi

I hoped the hard reset would have helped.

Perhaps it's time to approach the Manufacturers support service via their uk support page.

So is it just high battery drain that is the issue now?
If so, check in the power management menu under battery usage and look at what is using the most juice.
There is a known bug that makes Google services keep the phone awake so you might just have to wait for a bug fix update....
