Xperia Z1 Compact - notification bar stopped functioning

Hi, I've got an Xperia Z1 compact and at the weekend I could no longer pull down the notification/status bar.

I've performed a soft reset, a hard reset and a factory reset. Still not working.

What next please?

Google shows problem, but no resolution. Also contacted Sony for assistance (recommended factory reset)

Backup your data on pc and use pc companion to do a firmware repair.
To do this. Connect and select firmware update and when it says the latest firmware is installed, click on repair my device.

Make sure you back up everything as the repair will wipe the phone.

As @viridis said above this looks like a firmware issue in itself. Doing what he said should clear the issue.

Just out of interest have you added any new apps or changed anything else on the phone?
