Hello,

I've recently switched to a sim only contract but can't use WiFi calling on my current phone (samsung s9) I believe because it is unlocked and was not originally on o2. Im going to change my handset for a S10 or S20. Will I need to ensure any handset i buy was originally from O2 or was this specific to the S9?

Many thanks

It was just a limitation imposed by o2 and the manufacturers, at the early point in WiFi Calling, but it should on any Samsung Device since then, you just need to ensure that Wifi Calling is enabled on your account by contacting customer services on 202 or If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) witter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this

It might be worth doing this, as a matter of course and seeing if it comes to life on your S9

And then enable it in myo2.

I have numerous none o2 provided handsets and they all work with WiFi Calling.

Wifi calling works fine on S9 and no need for specific O2 firmware either.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

I use a Samsung S22+ that I bought elsewhere and the Wifi calling works fine with 02.  Just make sure it's turned on in the settings

I have a Samsung A21s and wifi calling didn't even show up as an option in the connections settings. Its dual sim and I read on another forum that someone had put a second sim in and then it worked. Sure enough, I put an old sim in the second slot (the second sim is not even connected to a network anymore) and wifi calling came up as an option as soon as I restarted the phone!
