Unable to connect to network.

I purchased a Galaxy S4 to upgrade from my current S2. This required that I order a micro sim card and transfer my number over to the new one.

After completing the process as far as I could tell it was working properly and I had a data connection, however I was unable to get online. I assumed something was up with network settings, so I searched for networks and selected O2 UK.

After trying this and every attempt since, I simply get the error that I am unable to connect and to try again later. I now have no service and haven't seen a data connection since... I don't know how something as simple as trying to reconnect to the O2-UK network would mess things up so terribly.

I tried the 2020 number in an effort to reset those setting files, but of course I have no service. I tried the sim swap service again in the hope of getting everything back to were they were initial but no joy there; it didn't send the files again (of course if I have no service...).

Restting the phone doesn't help, neither does removing the sim/battery a while. Messing with APN settings hasn't yeilded anything fruitful either.

I'd appreciate any advice on this matter, I was hoping to take my new phone out tomorrow for the first time but that looks unlikely at this rate.

Hi

I know you say you've looked but it can sometimes pay to look again.

Look here http://status.o2.co.uk

And http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Android-Devices-Samsung-HTC-Sony/Connecting-Android-Phone-to-Data-Servi...

Occasionally turning the phone off , clean the SIM card and battery pull (phone model dependant) and turn the phone back on clears lots of glitches.

A good self help thread http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-and-Pay-Go/Self-help-guide-Is-the-network-down-for-me-or-ev...

Also phone O2 customer services to have your account checked.

Are you able to try the sim in an alternative phone as a process of elimination.

Is your sim has turned off it means the porting process has started - This can take upto 24 hours to complete so a little patience may be required.
If no service by tomorrow morning I would contact CS to see whats happened http://www.o2.co.uk/contactus

I've tried all those I'm afraid. In regard to network status, my original phone and sim card are still able to pick up mobile internet just fine so I don't believe it's that (I assume they have yet to turn off the old sim.)

The new phone is the only one with a micro sim slot I'm afraid.

It would be strange if this is the case as the new sim did appear to start working initially, it's only when I went to network settings and tried to select o2-uk again that this all started. Though I agree the process may still be ongoing and I should perhaps see how it is tomorrow.

Keep turning your new phone off and on when the service stops on the original sim to help the re connection process on the new sim.

Let us know how you get on.
