Hi Guys, has anyone else found their xperia z1 has continuous speaker feedback noise when making and receiving calls? It's driving me mad and nothing I've tried seems to stop it permanently. Any advice greatly appreciated.

I have tried resetting. It's the bzzt bbzzt type noise. Thanks for the tips. Looks like I might have to take it into the shop.

Hi,

How long have you had the handset ?

Official Link.

If your over 14 days I would suggest seeking assistance from the phone manufacturer as they tend to be better than the Networks repair service.

Since it was released. It only happened occasionally after a few weeks but is pretty much a constant problem now.

It does sound hardware related so perorming a soft or hard reset may not help.

No harm in trying tho just make a back up before you start to retain your saved data.

What have you done thus far to try and resolve it.

Check the speaker and ports for dust and lint too.

Is the feedback happening no matter where you make a call.

I understand feedback as a high pitched screech usualy caused by conflict with another speaker or amplifying device. Is this what you mean?
Is it happening on loudspeaker or normal calls when phone held to your ear?
Do you wear hearing aids or are there amps or other speakers in the area?

Have you tried different settings for "microphone noise suppression" and "speaker voice enhancement" in call settings...?
I've got both of those ticked and have excellent call quality.....

I would say the call quality on the Z1 is not great I have came to notice.

I have had it since launch also and this is handset number 2. I love it but it does seem that on calls it is not that great and there is a lot of other noise. I have had to use my landline *GASP* a couple of times as the static has just been so annoying!

Stick the phone in service mode & test the speaker.

Open the phone dialer & press: *#*#7378423#*#* then pick Service Test's, you should find an option for a speaker test in there.

If you notice 7378423 spells SERVICE on the keypad Smiley LOL

You can also look in the Service Info menu to check sim lock status & if you look in the Configuration part if gives the bootloader status if it allows unlocking.
