Sometimes if you keep entering the incorrect code enough times the phone will ask if you want to unlock using your google account.
A factory reset will clear the pass lock but it will wipe all the data from the phone. This shouldn't be too much of a problem if you have recently backed the phone up.

Do you use Skype per chance..? If so I believe there's a bug which 'might' allow you to get round this problem. You need to Skype call to your device. On your device answer the call but reject on the sending device. Then on your device press the power button quickly to dim the display and then again to wake it up. You may find no lock-screen until the device is rebooted (i.e. perhaps remove the lock screen to begin with, reboot, and re-add your security solution).
Worth a shot!
