Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean Bugs & Fixes

Anonymous
Not applicable

HI,

I have already noticed a few bugs with Jelly Bean on my Galaxy SIII and thought it might be useful to start a list of these bugs & hopefully come up with some solutions?

  • Low Battery life - attempting a calibration soon, hopefully this will resolve the problem but i suspect it is caused by GPS usage & data usage from google now
  • No ability to set reminder via google now -"Remind me to XXXXXX in ten minutes" results in setting an alarm for midnight?
  • Sky Go app is no longer compatible
  • Pausing music via voice only works if done in an american accent (even though everything is set to UK)
  • Sometimes, selecting a part of text by sliding your finger to the relevant place results in closing the keyboard meaning you can only select part of text with "press"
  • "Google Now" hangs on "Initialising" sometimes when out of WIFI

Thanks

Maybe the facebook app needs updating to suit JB...?

maybe so, previously i used an old version of facebook. I'm guessing when i updated to JB it replaced it with the most recent Facebook. I will try and put the old one back in and see what happens

Good idea!

I too have a few google now glitches. i.e setting an alarm just searches google for me! and I get fedup waiting for Google Now when i'm not on Wifi even though I have excellent 3G coverage where I live. Although to be honest I don't often use things like that in public because I basically feel like a t*t doing it lol.

Heard a few people mention about the going into "More Settings" causes the settings app to crash. Although I have not had that issue.

I had a google now problem as well, have you tried clearing the cache from google now then restarting the phone (i found that the general restart didn't work but turning the phone off and waiting 30 seconds did)

That worked, thanks!

Hi Guys. Since i updated my galaxy s3 to jelly bean, Temple run game lags a lot. It was perfect with ice cream sandwich. I tried to uninstall and then reinstall it all over again but to no avail. Is it just me or has anyone else experiences the same? Any solution?

another bug...

I can't seem to upload photos to facebook unless in WIFI, 3G just causes an error. Anybody else experiencing the same?

It's working fine on my phone!

It could be worth noting that when I updated my S3 to the O2 JB Rom I had previously had the Polish JB Rom installed, so I did a complete wipe of the phone and flashed it with the Stock O2 ICS Rom prior to OTA update to JB.

Just to make you aware that, I was suffering some issues after the OTA update to 4.1.1 Force closes on com.android.scloudsync force closes on other apps, fast draining battery, poor data connection.

I was using a prior release of Jellybean on my S3 which I had installed through Odin, which worked perfectly so I knew Jelly bean worked ok on the device. I downgraded back to stock o2 ICS before this o2 update so I could receive it OTA.

Anyway I did a factory reset yesterday and deleted all data etc....rebooted, re-installed all my apps and i've not had any of the issues I was experiencing after the initial OTA update.

I think the bug here seems to be the install over the ICS without the factory wipe. I know it's a pain having to reinstall apps but I can tell you now it's worth it.

And for people with facebook issues, I was having the same and since the wipe its fine, they optomised the facebook app for jellybean ages before this release so knew it wasnt jellybean causing this issue.

SkyGo app still needs to be updated for 4.1.1 although I have a working APK which i've found on xda developers forum so try that. just google search it.

I think I will try that tonight. If I was to backup using Kies, then factory reset & perform firmware update (again all through kies), then retore using kies... do you think this will still resolve all the problems you have listed?

So you did the same as me, seems this might be the way to ensure a correctly operating JB install!
