I'm amazed the phone is still getting a signal if you've flashed an open ROM onto a locked phone... You've been very lucky. I'd put it back to ICS now and wait for O2 to release the correct ROM.

I assume your previous CSC was I9100pO2U ??

yes.  I updated it using Odin then like 3 or 4 days later the official release came out for jelly bean because my partner has the (other) S2.  (without the NFC option) and she now has the same as me when we look at the About Phone section.

Will it be ok for me to just leave it as!?

Your partners phone has the correct firmware for her model. Yours is incorrect and NFC will never work on it again unless you put an NFC ROM back on it. O2 haven't released their ROM for JB yet on the NFC version so your only UK firmware option is Orange (at this moment in time). However, you should NOT flash this onto a locked phone as you will not get lucky twice and your phone will turn into a paperweight !!
If you want JB, with NFC function, request an unlock code, unlock the phone and put the Orange ROM on it. If you're not fussed about having NFC leave it for now until O2 release their JB "P" ROM or go back to your correct ICS firmware.
Choice is all yours.......?

i see.  so long as the phone wont brick itself by having the wrong stuff on it i will keep it as it is for now.  however, one question, when it is released how will i know.  Will it still come OTA as normal??

You will now only get OTA updates for the non P version as that is now what your phone is. I can't tell you for sure it won't brick itself one time you turn it on as I've only ever had one phone that was locked with the wrong firmware on and that was bricked and took me about 3 days to sort out.....

Personally, I would. At least until I got the phone unlocked....
