Receiving multiple copies of the same text message (Z1 Compact, Android Lollipop)

Hi there,

I'm at my wit's end.

I keep receiving multiple copies of the same text message, over and over and over - it's mind bendingly infurating!

I've done a little research and as a result have activated a new SIM card, but the problem is still there, along with lots of other ones since I ran the latest system update. I really do not want to have to go through the hassle of a full reset, these phones are meant to be "smart" right?

This is making me seriosuly consider going back to an old school Nokia brick...

Is there any fix for this bar smashing the phone to pieces!?

Thank you for your help,

Ewan

I did a hell of a lot of googling too before posting here, and found this to be a problem across the board, regardless of phone or service provider, even country, so I'm fairly sure it's a software issue, and I too found no real solution for it either.

As far as the update to the latest version is concerned, I tend to not run the system updates as soon as they're available, I usually use leave it a couple of weeks after being notified, been burned too many times by Apple and Windows system updates, so I'm extremely jaded by that process...

Strangely though, this problem didn't rear it's head until a few weeks after the update.

I tried clearing the majority of texts out yesterday, but it seems to have made more room for duplicates, I'm getting even more than ever before. One of which arrived 20 times today so far!

Thanks for all your suggestions guys all the same, most helpful.

I'll have a shot at these over the weekend, I'll reserve the smashing one till I've bottomed them out 😉

On a side note, since the update, my battery life is shockingly bad, doesn't last more than 12 hours of normal use and it overheats a lot too when I'm using it, which is a little alarming. I won't be buying another Sony handset in a hurry...

Cheers,

Ewan

Battery life suggest something is wrong,
Repair via pc companion and get the correct experience as Sony and Google intended it, at the moment something is causing a loop somewhere, fetching multiple msgs while killing battery.

Always factory reset after an update of you get problems. I always do and never have any of the issues others seem to get.

Well I made time last night to use PC Companion to do a complete reinstall of the OS, I assume without the O2 tweaks, as it looks different?

Anyway, messaging problem solved. Jury is still out on the battery issues, but will wait and see.

Thank you all very much for your help on this though, much appreciated!

Well so far so good.

No repeat messages, at all. I think it'd have kicked in by now.

Also, battery life is a little better, not as good as it was pre-lollipop.

There's still a battery management issue in that the battery will hit rock bottom but not register it, for example, you think you're doing fine, maybe 30% or 40% to go and then suddenly show 0% and shut down.

A little frustrating, but it's happening about 2 or 3 hours later than it was before, so it's pretty much doing a whole day of normal use now.

I have a similar issue regards battery. It lasts easily the day now but it will warn me at 15% then completely shut down a few minutes later. When I then connect a charger or power bank it shows 0%.
