Hi all

Does anyone know about the Jelly Bean Update (if any) for the first Samsung Galaxy Note.

Some websites claimed it was out in October 2012. As far as I know, althought I got my phone on an O2 Contract from O2 directly, it is not O2 Branded. So I thought I would be one of the first lot to get it from Samsung Directly.

Can anyone enlighten me - how long would I have to wait? Is it worth waiting at all?

I have no issues with 4.0.4 except that

1) It is not as smooth as it should be - just the tiniest amount of noticeable lag

2) Ever since the upgrade to ICS, bluetooth does not work with car Audio(Sony) - keeps crashing - works fine with all other kinds of Bluetooth devices.

Hoping Jelly Bean would fix the above two issues for me.

JB not released yet for N7000.
Try deleting your BT profile for your car audio and re pairing. It might help your issue.

Regarding the BT problem, it is a definite issue with ICS - The issue started happening as soon as I updated my SGS 2 to ICS. At that time I have tried everything - debinding, reparing, factory reset the phone 100 times, etc etc I struggled with the problem for several months, and finally exchanged the SGS 2 for the Note, thinking the SGS2 was a fundamentally flawed phone as it had several other issues as well. The Note came loaded with Gingerbread and worked fine but as soon as it updated to ICS, it started crashing as well. Searching the web reveals lots of such posts  the common factors being ICS and SONY.

The  BT works perfectly fine on any number of other BT devices, but consistently fails with a SONY car audio device. I have no idea who will fix it. Last time I serviced the car I asked them to check the car audio for me and they assured me it has the latest firmware or whatever it is called. Really hoping the Jelly Bean update fixes this one.

Samsung did release a JB beta for the N7000 and then pulled it fairly quickly. There was much talk of an EFS bug and phones getting bricked. They were supposed to be releasing a patch to fix it but it all went quiet, so, the short answer is, I don't know... 😞

You may wish to try an app off Play to see if you can get a connection to your Sony head unit, something like A2DP (there are others so have a look and see what suits you).

Thanks MI5. We will wait and see.
In the meantime, I had stopped using the phone with the car Bluetooth for several months, but yesterday I rebonded and tried it - work fine for 85 miles - but sure enough conked off first thing today morning. Guess there really needs to be a fix for this issue.

BTW, MI5, I installed A2DP app, just to see what it could do, I have not really managed to learn much about its functionalities, but boy, does it kill the battery. It starts up something called GPSD, I think it is the GPS thingy and that one has drunk a whopping 57% of the battery in about 3 hours. Uninstalled.

Safest to wait for Jelly bean, if and when it arrives, I guess.
