Is it possible to download and use the Viber app on a Samsung Tocco Lite S5230?

Hello everyone,

Is it possible to download and use the Viber app on a Samsung Tocco Lite S5230 mobile?

Has anyone done this and used Viber successfully on that phone or not? Are there any settings that I need to know for this phone to use Viber?

If not, does the Samsung Galaxy Pocket work with the Viber app instead? Are there any settings that I need to know for this phone to use Viber?

Please advise.

Thanks.

Regards,

All I can say is that yes it has wifi and yes it meets the minimum requirements of Viber. As I have not got a Pocket phone to try it on I'm not prepared to say a definitive "Yes" as if it don't work you will come after me wink but I see no reason why it shouldn't work.....

Thanks again MI5 and perksie,

Much appreciated. I have seen that list and the Samsung Galaxy Pocket is NOT on there. So I don't know if it's worth the risk of getting one to find that the phone and Viber won't work together.

I will also send an email to the Viber Dev team to ask them about that phone before making my final decision.

Thanks again; much appreciated.

MI5 et al,

Thanks to all who replied. Have been informed by Viber and Samsung that the Viber app and the Samsung Tocco Lite S5230 are not compatible.

Was looking at the Samsung Galaxy Pocket instead, so made a purchase as it was available. Now have been told it isn't as it's out of stock. Waiting for the funds to be credited back to my account.

Can someone please now confirm if the Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 is also Viber compatible?

http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-devices/smartphones/android/GT-S5360MAAXEU

Initial reading round would suggest it is, but I would like definite confirmation before purchasing.

Thanks again; all the help and advice is much appreciated.

Regards,

On the link I gave above it says it's partially supported for calls.

Hello Perksie and everyone.

I have now got the Samsung Galaxy Y in front of me and all is working as it should be.

Have also downloaded Viber and that is now working, but the only issue I have is I cannot make Viber phone calls as "O2 Wifi" is in the list of available networks but it says "out of range"?

I suppose the only thing to do is to be "in range" as the o2 Wifi app does tell me where the nearest hotspots are. But I cannot make free Viber calls in my office building as the Wifi does not work or is not available.

Last but not least, my office Wifi network is in the list, but I cannot use that, can I?

My postcode location is SW1A 2HQ.

Grateful for any advice that you or anyone would be able to provide.

Thanks.

Regards,

If you have the office wifi in your list, you only need the password to connect to it. Surely the office admin will supply you with that?

Thanks for your reply Jonsie.

Have asked the IT helpdesk to see if I can use it or not, and whether there are any usage policies in place. It's work wifi, so I might not be able to use it for personal reasons.

Jonsie et al,

Have been told that I can't use the work wifi for personal devices, only work approved ones such as laptops and so on.

Can someone please help with this issue? I also find that I do not get o2 Wifi reception on the 3rd floor of my office building where I work in Central London.

When I walk out of the building, the o2 wif suddenly pops up and is active.

Is there any way that I can extend the range of the o2 wifi coverage, perhaps with an Android app for example so that I can download and install?

I have also got my home wifi network on the phone.............I have been told by a couple of people that they get reception from their home network on their phones. Surely, is this incorrect as I thought that the range of home wifi does not reach that far from anyone's home anyway?

Grateful for any ideas with this - thanks.

Regards,

PS - How can I use an 8GB memory card with this phone please? It's the old one from my old phone, but how do I access this card so I can use it to store stuff like texts, apps etc?

It is only possible to connect to a wifi signal that is in range of your phone at any given time. If you go into your wifi settings and select "scan" a list of available networks will show on screen. If these are "open" or part of your O2 contract allowance you should be able to connect to them, by following the log in process.

Re the memory card, if it is the same type as your new phone uses just put it into the SD card slot and the phone will find it automatically.
