Should be generic firmware so should have updated directly.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

EVA-L09C432B182.  I've tried emailing Huawei but just keep getting fobbed off with..... 'it's in the process of being pushed out' or something like that

I'm on B182 as well. Huawei have identified it as an O2 ROM and it's unmatched desire to connect to O2 WiFi Extra automatically means they've definitely had a hand in it. Can you confirm any build numbers @Chris_K?

I've just emailed Huawei again to see what excuse they come up with this time.  They've previously said the update should be available at the beginning of May!  Also, even though the phone was bought from CPW, it would be 'assimilated to carrier branded handsets' and I would have to wait for them (O2) to release the update.

Guess I'll just have to wait frowning2

It'll probably be 'rolling out' to batches of IMEI's at a time. These updates aren't like Apple where everyone can just download it unfortunately. I can't see that all of O2's P9 users are going to put that much strain on a server though!

Got my update on Friday night. I was on c40b190 before hand. So far it is running great. It seems faster than Marshmallow. Battery seems ok too. I'm not a heavy user though.

Looks like there's at least two variants of the Android 6 build then. Will just have to wait and see!

My P9 Lite is on C432B131, I'm hoping my update comes in the next couple of days because it's not here yet...
