Exactly what I did with my Note 4.

I wanted RED...

No chance...A gold one 'became available'.  I bought it and covered it in a lovely red case.. (Much to the disgust of it's previous owner) ...LOL

I was going to get a white cover for this phone but @Cleoriff decided I would be getting plum coloured... I'll leave it to your imaginations to decide what colour that actually is flushed

That's exactly the same 🤗 Goes quite well with gold I think or maybe not.. one of the advantages of being colour blind is that every combination of colours looks fine to me 😉
