Battery died and reset my phone

Anonymous

Hi I have been using my Sony Experia phone today as normal and made quite a few calls on it. As I was speaking to someone the battery died. I plugged it in and turned it back on only to find that it had completely reset itself and wiped everything off my phone!! I am extremely upset. Does anyone have any idea whether I can get any of it back again please? Thanks

I've been told by a friend that their Iphone turns itself into a 'safe' mode and switches off to preserve battery when it gets 'critically' low, and that he kept forcing it 'awake' which eventually irrepairably broke his phone when the battery finally died completley.

I've not heard of anything similar happen on an Android before, and was under the understanding that it actaully did the battery good to let it drain completely, and then give it a good overnight charge every now and again.

Bit worrying if this sort of thing can happen...

Did you back it up anywhere? PC, Google, Dropbox etc...?

Thanks for your reply. Why would it completely wipe my phone though?

I guess it's a bug in the firmware, obviously it shouldn't wipe the phone when the battery dies. Are you using an official battery?

I've known it happen when a cheap ebay battery was been used (which is why I asked the question above). The official batteries always shut down the phone when there is reserve left in them to prevent the firmware from crashing from sudden power loss.
