Battery .. blank screen... switching off - GALAXY S2

Anonymous

I believe there are a lot of people having this problem.

Battery is fully charged then I go on a few apps and the next minute my phone screen goes blank and has switched off.  I then turn it back on and the battery is beeping to be charged!

After reading about this on loads of forums I can't believe that it is a battery issue.  My phone has only been doing this in the past few weeks and I've just come to the end of my 18 month Contract (waiting to upgrade to new Galaxy when its out ; P)

I thought I had solved this yesterday as it didn't switch off all day after I updated the firmware through Kies and went into settings>applications and emptied the cache on Ebay and Youtube (after me deciding these were the apps I use the most).  Today .. it has happened again!  I noticed it happened when I did a refresh on the accu weather on my home screen, I'm defo thinking its one of the apps that is playing up!

Samsung and O2 don't seem to be responding to any forum questions on this matter which I find unbelievable!  Please can anyone else advise?! Many thanks slight_smile

S2's suffer from a battery calibration issue. The battery is supposed to recalibrate everytime it is charged to 100% but often they don't, then you get these huge drops in battery reading after a reboot. If you leave the phone off charge you will actually see the battery level increase all by itself. To recalibrate it you need to charge with phone off to 100% then remove the charger and the battery for 5 mins. This will reset the chip. As far as turning off is concerned I would suggest doing a back up in Kies then do a factory reset to clear out any rubbish from the OS. As you say, it is most like an app in conflict with something.
