By my calculations this Thursday 22nd is 6 months since the release of both phones. Do you think o2 will allow us to unlock (as per their usual ways) after that period? I notice their website still says you can’t until after the phone is paid off in full...

@jonsiewrote:

I just wish they would update the message about connecting to iTunes.

I wish they would update the website re this..

If you've got an iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus you won't be able to get it unlocked unless you've paid off your Device Plan in full.

No there isn't. Also the bit about not able to unlock until you have paid off your device plan in full is rubbish. It's usually 6 months after purchase. What happened to that?

Hey everyone,

Happy to confirm that yes, it’s now official! The iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus can all now be unlatched for consumer and business customers. If you’re an O2 Refresh or Business Essentials customer, this means you no longer have to pay off your device plan to unlock these devices from the O2 network.

If you want to unlock your device, you can request this via our My O2 online form or from within the My O2 app itself. Once requested, it can take up to 72 hours to complete.

Thank you @Martin-O2 Some people have already reported they have been able to get theirs unlocked so all good.

However I would draw your attention to my post here HERE where the website was.claiming you could only get these phones unlocked if you had paid your device off in full. Simply not true and confusing for members

Edited for spelling!
