Last month I started a  topic titled "Why is 5G not available on PAYG?"

Unfortunately, the forum trolls and know alls hi-jacked it, and it was locked.

Today, 1st July, I noticed that my phone is now showing that I'm getting 5G on my PAYG phone.

I've opened this thread to inform anyone who is interested, that 5G is now available on PAYG.

Best wishes.

Just looked in my iPhone 16e setting and VoLTE now seems to be turned on does that mean wifi and 4g calling is now available for o2 pay and go customers on.

When I tried to turn VoLTE on last week it would turn its self off again after a min or so.

My VoLTE has turned on too, although, I've no indication that it's actually using it yet?

No WiFi calling either, yet. Hopefully soon?

Easy to check VoLTE.

Go away from WiFi (it can confuse the issue)

Call any number, voicemail will do, and check if the call drops to 3G or stays on 4G.

If it stays, it's working

I see Smarty this week started doing eSIM. Thats good for the likes of me if I wanted to in time get a new iPad. As I use a Smarty data only sim in my iPad Mini 6 and all new iPads are eSIM only.

With the roumars that the iPhone 17 in the Uk maybe eSIM only. It would be if o2 now started to think about bringing eSIM to its pay and go customers.

Smarty are part of VodafoneThree and this brings them in line with Voxi which is a Vodafone equivalent.

Problem is O2 proves to be a right pain when you have to swap the eSIM to another Handset

Almost if they haven't got their act together

I tried it, it dropped down to H+, so, VoLTE doesn't seem to be working yet.

I'll try it again sometime.
