Tethering Issue

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi all I'm new to this but will give it a shot slight_smile
I have purchased a android tablet however I have also purchased a dongle but unsure weather to go on payg or pay monthly as I want to use it for browsing and checking email's etc but I also have a sim only with my iphone 4s which I may use for tethering when ever I need to, But I was wondering do you have to pay any additional charges and also will a dongle work in the tablets as I have been advised by Argos it should work as I have the relevant lead for USB's

Hope to get a reply soon slight_smile
Kind regards

Tetherind an Android device to an iPhone can be done by creating a WiFi hotspot only.  The iPhone supports blue tooth tethering, but that is only to iPads I believe.

When you setup a hotspot on your iPhone, remember to make sure you have  a password set on it so that only you can connect to it.  From then on, its just a matter of connecting your Android tablet up to the hotspot the same way you would connect it to any WiFi.

You will find your data allowance used up quicker when tethering so you may be better with a dedicated data sim rather than using your current tariff data.
As long as your dongle is connected to the network you can tether any wifi/usb/bluetooth device to it.

You shouldn't need the leads to tether as your 4S can create a wifi hotspot that the tablet should be able to see and connect to.

As MI5 says tethering will come out of your data allowance so you may need to check you have enough data to cover both your phone use and any tethering use. If you do need to change your data allowance, this shouldn't be an issue as you are on sim only
