My head is about burst after a day of online chats and phone calls to o2!
I am currently a student (and will be for another 2 years). I was lucky enough to recently win an award with a small amount of money and thought I'd treat myself to an early upgrade! What a mistake!
My previous contract was very good, as I'd used the 20% airtime discount through Unidays and, naturally, I wanted to continue to use this discount on my new phone.
I mentioned this to the girl in the store and she could see no issue with it.
So after filling in the online boxes, and sending the appropriate text messages, I was surprised to receive an error message telling me that my code had been used too many times over the last 6 months.
After some investigation and a LOT of contradictory conversations with various o2 staff (some of which were incredibly unhelpful), I was finally told that the discount can only be used ONCE, and as I had used it on my previous contract, I would not be able to apply it again. This seems a bit strange to me as I am still a student - I just have a new phone!
What has really annoyed me about the whole experience (besides the fact that it has taken the over 3 days for someone to finally tell me what's going on) is that no-where on the website does it tell me that I can only use this discount once. If I try to open the Ts & Cs I see a blank screen. The last lady that I spoke to at customer services has offered me £10 credit to apologise for this, but that doesn't change the fact that I now have a contract that is more expensive than I accounted for. I am left with the options to either pay it (which I don't think I can), go back and change my phone and contract - maybe even leave o2. Luckily I am within the 14 day period.
Has anyone else had problems with the student discount? It surely can't just be me!
