With the UK banks about to implement SMS/MMS texting to distribute verification codes for online purchases - what are O2 doing to enable SMS/MMS over O2 WiFi calling inline with other network providers (e.g. EE)?

Or should we now consider switching to another network provider?

Not what it says in the link I gave you.

Maybe they use O2 live chat agents too 😁

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Wouldn't be the first that Sky have made mistakes on there website....

Sky do not support it, as I said o2 have to support it, as Sky use the o2 SMSC's and all Sky provide is a Private APN to route data...

SMSoWIFI needs to be enabled at MNO level, as it really is just IMS over untrusted WiFi connections using an IPSEC tunnel or ePDG connectivity...

So not as simple as it sounds....

They do since August 27th 2021 it would seem, but only on devices with Sky firmware probably.

A not Sky website also confirms it https://xtrium.com/sky-mobile-wifi-calling-not-working/

I don't use Wi-Fi calling. Especially on an unsecured public network and who knows whom is tapping into the information and what can be attained.  I use 4G calling as it allows you to be on all call and the web at the same time.

Indubitably true. Samsung S21 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 Ultra

Not heard anything about it lately, @Robatwork - but with good O2 signal, I am not actively searching.

Well that explains why I can now get texts with a new iphone - so it's via "wifi calling" not just the iphone 16 is much better at receiving SMS? I guess I could switch off wifi calling and see if I still get texts...
