can i use my pay as you go in Austrailia

Hi guys

my father in law is going to Austrailia early next year and has a pay as you go nokia c2 phone on O2..firstly will it work over there and on O2,or is it better to get a sim card over there he is going for 6 weeks?

Most certainly it will be cheaper to use a local sim card but he will need to get his phone unlocked first, before he goes.

It's probably cheaper to get a local sim and use that.

 

If his phone is locked to O2 getting it unlocked before going will allow another sim to be used.

Just get a local sim. The phone will work fine on GSM 900/1800 Australian networks.

Be aware that using a local sim will mean that calls to the UK will be very expensive, and for you to call Australia will be expensive too. Getting access to a computer and using Skype or something similar will be much cheaper than trying to call.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

He could use his O2 SIM card as it is, either way calling to/from Aus won't be cheap but at least with PAYG there won't be any surprises.... Just endless top ups slight_smile
