Nokia - Windows Phone 7.8 *RELEASED*

Hey Guys,

Got some great news for all you Nokia fans out there! You all will be delighted to know that we’re currently testing and working closely with Nokia UK to unveil the Windows Phone 7.8 software update for Lumia 610, Lumia 710, Lumia 800 and Lumia 900 soon to ensure it delivers a superb user experience.

Once we have a green light for the roll-out, we’ll update this post and O2 customers will be available to download the update via Zune. Exciting times, right?! Meanwhile, I’m curious to know which particular feature from the latest version (7.8) are you guys waiting for?

Update 31/01/2013: WP 7.8 is live for Lumia 610, 710, 800, and 900 and WP 8 PR 1.1 for Lumia 820 (OTA).

What does the update include? For Lumia 610, 710 & 800 devices, it includes:

• New features to the Start Screen, new colors and lock screen improvements.
• WP 7.8 OS includes enablers for new apps such as Bluetooth Share and Ringtone Maker.

For Lumia 820 devices, improvements include:

• Increasing device performance
• Browser enhancements and new ringtone capability.
• Improvements to the general functionality of the phone including NFC pairing, battery monitor performance and bluetooth connectivity.

I have a lumia 800 and still no update for 7.8

I think that O2 are not going to do this. My wife's sim free phone has had both the update and the fix to the update, that is because the responsibility lies with the manufacturer on this occasion and that is Nokia. O2 locked phones is down to O2. That is why I will swap companies in 11 months and take Emmy whole family with me. I think you all should do the same, why stay with a complainant who do not give two R A for their customers?

Not true, I have a Nokia Lumia 800 locked to 02, and have received all the updates last month, plus the other day, I had a message on the phone to re-connect to the PC. Then I got the recent 'fix' (710.8862.144)

what's the problem?

Congratulations. However, I have only just received 7.10 - 8773, and I mean only just. That update came in 6 months prior to 7.8

The other day, I plugged a mate's phone into my laptop (he hasn't got a pc strangely enough!, he's got a Nokia Lumia 7.10 but has never had it updated from day one.)

After recognising the phone as a new device, the Zune software message indicated that the phone needed updating.

the following updates were then installed, (I wrote each one down*, took over two  hours!) : 

7.10.8112.7

7.10.8773.98

7.10.8779.8

7.10.8783.12

7.10.8858.136

7.10.8862.144

*just incase someone needs this info

when I gave it back to him, he then had the new tiles etc and now has the 7.8 software.

including the fix for the live tiles

No luck yet!!

Today, my 'Lumia 710' got updated to phone software version 7.10(8779), but it had no new tiles, etc

Unfortunately,Zune says that Phone is up to date 😞

When will I get the next update?

Well, month came and went, guess thats a big two fingers from who ever is supposed to be rolling this out, is it MS or O2?

Guess I'll be lucky to get it at all now.

well i have the 800 as well, still on version 7.10.8773.98 and i have my phone plugged in and still no show of the update.

I have got the version .1.44  you will need to chase O2. It appears to be working ok but there a couple of Live Tiles i going to speak to the Developer.
