..... is there a way to close off a facebook 'account'

I ask, not for myself, but for a good friend of mine, who for family reasons has recently joined fb

a relative did the registration for him

& he is really, really not happy with the whole thing of fb

it has actually upset him very much

the relative did the registration to rather 'show off'

thank you for reading this post Thanks!

thank you MI5 & jonsie

my friend was flabbergasted at how soon people recognised him & sent a friend request

he is someone who prefers to talk to people face to face - the silly relative really should not have put him on fb in the first place

my friend really, really does not like the av notifications he gets from facebook

& says he is a private person & feels it is an invasion of his privacy

I shall see him later today

I am on fb & have learned to use it to my taste

I tend to share funny pics (mainly of cats haha) & like other friends' postings

but it really for me keeps me in touch with other people I would not be able to eg old school friends & trad jazz friends/musicians etc  slight_smile

thank you again

& good to hear from you jonsie slight_smile

I have my privacy settings set to friends only.  One thing that annoys me is that when you change your profile picture it automatically switches to public and the setting have to be changed again.

I'm selective with who I accept as a friend and the main reason I'm still on it as it means I can keep in contact with my family in Australia and see what they are up to.

I can also post lots of cat pictures!

thank you for that info Tracey ..... & good to hear from you - I hope all's well

I too on facebook have my settings very limited to friends & groups

the friend of mine having the problems, has facebook notifications come through as texts on his mobile, which he really sees as an invasion of privacy

I have passed the info, which MI5 posted, onto my friend so it's up to him now

& I will pass your info onto him tomorrow

yesterday I used my friends ipad for the 1st time & I realised that it has limited info on the screen than on my laptop

so I really would like my friend to come round to me & I can show him how fb appears on a larger screen

I hope what I have written above makes sense

thank you again @Anonymous

love to you & your feline friends Cat

just to say

I've checked upon my friend's fb page this morning

& seen, with horror, that his mobile phone is posted on his home page Shocked Fear

my friend would not have done this

it'd be some such silly friend or the twozza relative who set him up on fb in the first case

thank you
