There are two White Room Quizzes each week - one on Monday and one on Wednesday.

Today`s White Room Quiz is the Regulars` Choice Quiz.

The White Room Quiz`s regular quizzers have each voted for their preferred three categories; the points have been counted; and I can reveal the eight categories with the most points are

The answers - and results for each player taking part - will be posted on morning of Fri 15 Jan 2021

Each member will be awarded star for each correct answer. In addition, each member who gives

THE RULES

Each member must pm [private message] their answers to me [Mi-Amigo] after 12 noon today [Wed 13 Jan 2021] and before 23.59 [11.59pm] tomorrow [Thurs 14 Jan 2021].

No member is to post any answer on the thread.

Any answer received after 23.59 [11.59pm] on Thursday 14 Jan 2021 will be declared void.

No googling, wiki, youtube search for answers.

The White Room Quiz is open to all members.

New members, who have recently joined the Community, and members who have not taken part before, are welcome to join the "regulars" with this week`s quiz.

Please feel free to post any comments on the questions - but not the answers - on this thread.

If you have any questions about the quiz, please ask and I will reply here.

A4 this was one of the couple of trickier or harder questions - taken from the quiz book I got for Xmas

the correct answer is cow dung; this was followed by wood; and finally by metal

Q5 PHYSICS What is commonly used in a rectifier to convert alternating current to direct current ?

A5 diode

Re the puck. I only knew that as I read an article about ice hockey some years ago. It was then in a quiz we went to later on. Those were they days hey? When we could go to pub quizzes?!

@TheresaV My only excuse is age....oh and my husband used to set quizzes for pubs and clubs, in the UK and Spain (when we had an apartment there)

Pleased you enjoyed the quiz.

There really is no telling whether those taking part in the quiz are going to find the questions easy. There have been times when questions which have been rated in quiz books as "difficult" which folk have found easy and other questions which have been rated in quiz books as "easy" which folks have struggled with. As has been said, more than once, the questions are "only easy if you know the answer"

That said, the quiz is meant to be fun and there are often times when I, as quizmaster, also come across a new and interesting fact.
