There are two White Room Quizzes each week - one on Monday and one on Wednesday.

Today`s White Room Quiz has eight questions - with two questions from each of four categories

   GEOGRAPHY   WORDS   MOVIES   SPORT

The White Room Quiz is open to all members.

Those wishing to take part must pm me - @Mi-Amigo - with their answers between 12 noon today [Wednesday] and 11.59pm tomorrow [Thursday]

Please note: there is no QI-style question in which the answer is not what most people think; and none of the questions this time are rated as "difficult" or "hard" in the quiz books consulted for the quiz.

Q5 LITERATURE - 2  The Matterhorn is on the border between which two countries ?

Q6 WORDS - 2     The word "vernal" relates to which season ?

Q7 MOVIES - 2     Which character was played by Orlando Bloom in the "Lord Of The Rings" trilogy ?

Q8 SPORT - 2        Mary Rand won a Gold Medal in which event at the 1964 Olympic Games ?

Each member will be awarded  for each correct answer. In addition, each member who gives

So here's the truth about the Rugby question. I was at the hairdressers on Weds and in a room full of women (back of the shop) I asked if anyone could help me with 'this question' I read it out and everyone was falling about with laughter. Suddenly from the front of shop a male voice said, that's easy, it's New Zealand'. Not knowing who it was, I called back 'are you sure?' His haircut finished he came through to us, and said 'Sure he was sure...he supported and played rugby for years'

Now that's what I call a lucky day at the hairdressers.

Well done everyone, I got a silver thinker by default, but I'll take it.
