David Bowie died yesterday aged 69.He had cancer.
I am unbelievably shocked at this news. He had hidden his illness from the public

He had just released his latest album
R.I.P David. I will never forget Ziggy Stardust

He's gone up even further in my estimation for that @Cleoriff!
I've listened to the new album and I think I need to hear it again to really make my mind up. Unlike Ziggy Stardust it didn't make me think 'this is brilliant'.
I can remember being laughed at when I was at school for liking David Bowie. It was when Dancing in the Street came out and I was 10 years old. I don't think it was the done thing at that age but I never did follow the music trends!

The thing is Bowie knew for 18 months that his cancer was terminal ....I think this last album possibly reflects that. Also I agree with you that Ziggy Stardust was brilliant...but he was pushing boundaries at that time and wanted to be outrageous. In my opinion he had nothing left to prove. He was a one off.
I have just heard that Kanye West is thinking of doing a tribute album of Bowie's songs. Please God save us from that. I heard what he did to Bohemian Rhapsody at Glastonbury

Oh God no, not Kanye West! I had to laugh when he said Bowie was an inspiration to him - I'd never have known that with the rubbish he churns out. And don't get me started on his 'designer' clothing range!
I haven't heard his version of Bohemian Rhapsody and I don't think I'll lose any sleep over it!

I had the misfortune to hear him sing the Queen anthem and murder it. Hopefully he's talking out of his backside about a tribute album to Bowie.

For fans of the film here's another chance to watch Labyrinth on Sunday at 5pm Ch 5
To show how shallow I am.... I really loved this whole look of Bowie when he played Jareth
