So I've owned every nexus since the first and upgraded from a nexus 6p to the pixel XL and have them all boxed

Having had the the device for 8-9months I can say it's one of the better Google flagship devices

Build quality is good which looks good naked but like most smartphones these days it has to in a case all day long (in my job anyway)

Fingerprint sensor is in the most natural position ever right in middle towards the top of the device

The screen is of a high STD I won't bore you with ppi and screen type but suffice to say even in bright light it is viewable and the night screen feature is good

A lot of people moaned when the device was released that it didn't have front facing speakers bit unless you want to walk around the local town centre playing to the unfortunate people walking past your music collection it's not noticeable

It has no expandable storage which every year people moaned about during the nexus's lifetime but everything is cloudbased and usb 3 do you really need your entire 2000000000000 songs on the device

Rapid charging means it can be flat to fully charged in a few hours and even after 8-9months of hard use battery still exceeds a full day easily

On the subject of charging I thought it was strange that Google being the pioneer of wireless charging for the 2nd year running has not had wireless charging

Day to Day it is a quick phone with no lag using any of the apps even ram intensive ones and even using the split screen app function

Camera wise it's brilliant and not used if it's current but it was the best camera on a smartphone and with little or no lag

Plus pixel devices get unlimited storage for videos and photo even at 4k and max Resolution as opposed to Google compression for free or 15gb max

Being a Google device it will receive os updates first certainly until 2019

The only real stick point with the pixel and the XL is cost Which was a massive departure from the concept of the Nexus line but this started changing with the Motorola nexus 6 and the 6p which was expensive again and after 20 months of use (my has all my hand me downs and upgrades hand me downs every year) the battery is mullered and is suffering from the much reported battery drain issues which causes shut down at anything from 40% downwards all of a sudden the battery is flat

I was disappointed O2 chose this year to not officially offer it from there own store which forces me to use carphone warehouse but I think what annoyed me the most was.....

the fact they didn't confirm or deny it until long after Google announced who the stockists for the UK was going to be O2 official line was watch this space and we will let you know

In the end they backed the one plus 3 which I hoped was a worthwhile decision all I hope is this year they decide to stock the pixel 2 or what ever it's called this year

Device quality in hand 9/10
Sound quality 9/10
Operating system 10/10
Display 10/10
Hardware and battery 10/10

Overall 9.5 / 10

What let's the device down is price for most users lack of expandable storage will annoy some

Plus points
Camera
Split screen apps are lag fees
Finger print sensor is again perfectly placed

Wow @Anonymous nice, that's like a proper device review you've written there. grin Interesting, I hadn't realised the fingerprint sensor is placed differently to where it "normally" is.

@Marjo
It just feels natural to me when using the device one handed

My wife also has a s8 for work and the sensor feels wrong

Also I am available for any other product reviews
