Watching the spire and the rest of the building ablaze on the news, it looks a write-off to me. Awful thing to happen.

Centuries of history gone in a flash. Very sad.
Mind you, big fires got at Windsor Castle back in 92, and I think the Charles Rennie Mackintosh building in Glasgow caught fire twice...

The magnificent tower has gone now. Tragic.
All those treasures inside will be lost as well....

As I said, a write-off
A shard of the spire shown breaking off......

Absolutely horrific.
I visited Notre Dame many years ago and it was absolutely stunning. What a loss to Paris.

They say the building structure has been saved but the loss inside is irreplaceable.

This is very upsetting ... before, I've only seen pictures of the cathedral (outside photos) ... & it is / iconic ... ... ... I've only ever been travelling through Paris to get to the South coast of France ... however ... my 1st ever experience of pitching a tent with the then husband was inside the city of Paris = Montparnasse district = it was magic
Parisians must feel it in their hearts as I would feel it in my heart about York Minster
What is it about buildings undergoing repairs that they catch fire ? ... ... ... health & safety rules compromised during restoration(s) ?
My heart felt it when the Charles Rennie MacIntosh School of Art buldings in Glasgow got it twice when undergoing repair work ? ... talk of it now is demolishing it ... = ... Gutted, no pun intended
Always been a bit fan of CRM architecture ... & ... it was on my 'To Do List' to visit Glasgow and soak all of his work / particularly any of his surviving Tea Rooms one day ... = ... good train service direct to the city from the town in which I live
A TRADJEDY FOR PARIS
