"Britain's biggest mobile phone company EE is moving 1,000 jobs back to the UK... because customers dislike overseas call centres."

A step in the right direction ?

I think so.

Definitely.  I'm still trying to decide which mobile provider to go with and that goes in EE's favour.  Mind you, unless I get my backside into gear I won't be going anywhere and will be moaning about the coverage again next time we go to Sussex!

Hope a few more of the national and international companies follow their lead.

Fantastic!

I don't mind paying a little more if I know I'm going to get through to a UK call center, after the hours I've spent on to Talk Talk it's enough to make me realise that some products are cheap for a reason.

Ha Ha. TalkTalk technical first line are horrendous - had a torrid time trying to explain that the problem isn't my router but the exchange that had an outage the previous day that was causing the problem.

Get past them into the 2/3rd line and its a UK person then things are done. Though in their defence, I've rung up last week to sort a sim card out and it was dealt with impecably even though it was an Indian call centre. The South African (I think it was anyway) centre isn't bad but thankfully, their online system is pretty good so I don't need to ring them.

I wouldn't mind if they were honest and didn't know the answer but will find out, but they just start panicking and make things up on the spot, really random things.

I've found you've got to ask to speak to a manager to get through to a UK call center.

Oddly enough, I've found their webchat to be pretty decent.
