Welcome to the Love Week Brain Teaser

The Brain Teaser is open to all members of the 02 Community.

Those wishing to take part must pm [private message] me [@Mi-Amigo] with their answers between

       9 am today [Tues 13 Feb 2024] and 9 pm tomorrow [Wed 14 Feb 2024]

so those who are busy or out-and-about will have a chance to join in.

Please DO NOT post answers on the thread.

Q6 An ox ploughs 8 furrows in a field measuring 6m x 2m.

      How many hoofprints does the ox leave in the field ?

 

Q7 Two ducks are in front of a duck. Two ducks are behind a duck. A duck is in the middle.

       How many duck are there ?

 

Q8 What are the next three letters in this sequence

        W   a   t    n    t   l  ?

 

Q9 If RED = 2; ORANGE = 3; YELLOW = 4; what does BLUE = ?

 

Q10 Dave; Pete; Jack; and Alan take their girlfriends out for a meal on Valentine`s Day.

        Dave took Anne; Pete took Emma; Alan took Lynn.

        Did Jack take Rose; Alice; or Jean ?

 

The answers; results; and the scores will be posted on the morning of Thursday 15 Feb 2024.

Each member must pm [private message] their answers to me [Mi-Amigo] after 9am today [Tue 13Feb 2024] and before 9pm [21.00] Wed 14 Feb 2024].

No member is to post any answer on the thread.

Any answer received after 9pm [21.00] on Wed 14 Feb 2024 will be declared void.

No googling, wiki, youtube search for answers - but you may ask family or friends for help

THE ANSWERS

 

Q1 If L O V E = 7;  what does W E E K = ?

A1   11 - Scrabble letter scores

        L 1 + O 1 + V 4 + E 1 = 7;

        W 4 + E 1 + E 1 + K 5 + 11

 

Q2 A bat and a ball cost £1.10. The bat costs £1 more than the ball. How much does the ball cost ?

A2    ball costs 5p; bat costs £1 more - £1.05 

 

Q3 What is the next letter in this sequence

         T   Y   E   Y

A3  L. Given letters are the last letter in months from August back to May; so last letter of April is L.

 

Q4 Jill is in a cycle race. Just before the finish, Jill overtakes Jane, who is in second place.

      What place did Jill finish the race in ?

A4   2nd. When Jill passed Jane, Jill became 2nd and Jane became 3rd

 

Q5 What is the next number in this sequence

A5  81. Given numbers are square of numbers 5 to 8; so square of 9 is 9 x 9 = 81
