Encarta was the dogs lol, was much quicker than waiting for the dial up to connect, though I was only allowed that after 6pm because it was 1p per minute and less chance of missing a phone call.

I remember the early days of NTL (ntlworld) when you got tv and a phone line and dial up Internet for just a tenner a month.

Every time I got a voicemail it would knock my internet off.

Me and the family were allowed so many hours each from the allowance we got.

To top up for further time was very expensive.

My first ISP was Freeserve, and I got a free mouse mat, t-shirt and set of business cards with my own website address on haha.

I remember being on Compuserve years ago, which you had to be on for support from several manufacturers before it got spread to the wider internet. Had a second line from United Artists as it was then to avoid blocking up the line for voice calls.
