Football Talk

Thought I would start off a thread, bit of friendly banter not too heavy and an opportunity to express your ideas about your favourite team.

What are you hoping for in the January transfer market?

As a Liverpool fan I am hoping for cover for Mane and the front 3.

Can only see Messi going to PSG or Man City - only two places that would pay him what he wants.
PSG more likely - the whole farce of him re-joining Barca but then them not being able to actually sign him and putting it down to the league rules is just a front for fans so they (Barca directors/management) can shrug and say they tried but weren't allowed.

Reading this thread on twitter (by the excellent Swiss Ramble) Barca debt analysis shows how much of a mess they are in!

Just read on the BBC that Grealish "Teared up" leaving Villa....

He's gone to Man city for £100m, I do think he is a good player but he only scored 6 goals last season, I'm sure teams like Man City and Chelsea (In the past) are more for keeping players from other big teams than actually really wanting them.

The prem kicks off Friday, Brentford vs Arsenal - I hope Aubameyang can find the goal this season.

I'm definitely on the fence with Grealish as I've never seen him play. Or rather based my impression of his England performances, more on the floor. We shall see how he progresses and how dynamic Man City become.

Bankrupt Barcelona - been like that for decades. You have sympathetic bankers who are fans allow them to borrow way beyond their means then it all comes crashing down. Real Madrid are equally bankrupt and Spanish creative accounting means they survive for now. If you didn't know why they wanted and still want the Euro super league to happen, there's your answer.

Thing is, we've already seen it happen in Scotland with Rangers (think Liverpool were very close not that long ago). Lived well beyond their income backed by the banks till the banks went under themselves and the rules changed so no more creative accounting to bypass the taxman. Which is a game you can't win.

The Super Cup is the pointless match between the UEFA Cup winners and the UEFA Champions League winners Or as you might have guessed, just a money grab.

Even more pointless is the World Club Cup that happens in January. Another money grab by FIFA.
