Cold call from 02

Hey everyone.

This will make you smile.

As most of you know I'm using an iPhone 5 on a £17.50 payg tariff which gives me unlimited texts, 50mms and 1gb data.

I receive a call from an 02 call centre to offer me.

12 month contract for £21.
Unlimited 02 calls.
Unlimited texts.
500mb data.

So as I've got a little time to spare I thought a discussion would be fun.

I say , so your wanting me to lock into a 12 month contract and receive less data which is the strongest part of a tariff for me. He knows this as he has checked my datausage already.

Well we won't charge you if you go over the 500mb usage.

Yes true but you will throttle the speed making it next to useless.

Ah he says and I see your using an iPhone 5 so Internet is important.

We'll contact you again if something else becomes available for you.

Goodbyes were said.

It's a shame there isn't more flexility on Pay Monthly tariffs with regard to data limits.

Very few will want unlimited calls and texts but many want more data and I think 750Mb should be the standard minimum now.

You would be surprised - but many customers don't use anywhere near 750Mb.

But I agree with the original point, calling you up to lower your data is silly. If they want to convert you to postpay - atleast have an attractive offer to do so in comparison to what you currently get!

I had one of these calls the other day and was on the £10.50/300mins/100MB simplicity which was just about coming to an end. Basically the call lasted less than a minute as he realised he couldn't get my tariff any lower. Didn't even seem interested in making me an interesting offer that included a new phone which I could have been interested in for a few pound more. And yes I'd been happy to do 24 months. But nevermind, I upgraded to the £11 tariff and doubled my data + a bit more (250MB) for a mere 17p for a year!

Strange though, Vodafone also took the same line on my current sim only deal and weren't even offering anything other than a sim only deal.
