Yes, well, someone had to mention it ... so it may as well be me
I'm cooking this year ... with one friend coming to share the day with me, & maybe 2 more friends to come
I'll be fine once the dinner is on the table ... & having watered down rose down my neck to take the edge of the stress of cooking Christmas dinner, something I've not done for a few years
My son & future daughter-in-law will be coming over in January for my birthday & we will make a fuss of things then
What are your plans for Christmas & New Year ?

Saw my first decorated lit up house yesterday mid day in Hartlepool Headland.
RSPB reserve Saltholme had its Christmas wares on sale in July.
In my youth, Christmas started in December. Now it is all year and not special.
Couldn't agree more, people near me in Bolton kept the decorations up outside the house all year long and started turning them on as soon as midnight on the 31st October.

A Facebook friend of mine teases being curmudgeonly ... he says = There Are 12 Days Of Christmas ... it doesn't start in November after bonfire night

I am staying in London but with friends who live a couple of streets away. Will be with them for Christmas and New Year and come back home to dry out and diet. They believe that no one should leave their table hungry or thirsty and let me tell you no one does. They are excellent hosts and their whole family make you welcome.
Have me pressies sorted out and the booze I'm bringing so am all set.
All I have to do is write my cards a chore but one that has to be done. What I do is start from now writing a few cards a day and should be all done and ready to post before last posting dates. My cards go around the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and USA. Hence the early start.
I love Christmas seeing the shop windows and the festive. In London you don't get much in the way of house decorations at least not where I live.

Well here's a run down Jane. Most stuff is bought and already given apart from the grandkids. (Ben knows what he is getting...the other one doesn't ) One of my lads is back with us and he is still like a 6 year old at Christmas...He wants the tree up...I told him it's in the garage and get it sorted while I am away....I will NOT cook Christmas lunch. I did it religiously for 40 years and not starting that malarkey all over again...so have booked a meal out.....Apart from that all is going swimmingly ... Roll on New year...

Christmas here is so laid back and noncommercialised being a Buddhist country. It's recognised and celebrated for the foreigners here and the bars and shopping centres put up decorations. But...no endless tv or media coverage for two months leading up to the day.
Christmas is Christmas Day just as New Year is on the day. I find it refreshing to be honest and it's quite surreal to spend Christmas Day on a beach in 32°C then go to a restaurant for a true Christmas meal followed by Skype calls to family in the UK and Germany.
As for presents, I'm afraid it's just a matter of sending money and asking them to buy what they want. No present needed for the wife but maybe I'll buy her some flowers

I'm sure you will be getting something more than flowers for your lovely wife. How do I know she's lovely? Because she puts up with you😄
