Welcome to the End of BST 2025 Brain Teaser

Those wishing to take part must pm [private message] me [@Mi-Amigo] with their answers between

       10 am today [Mon 27 Oct 2025] and 10 pm Wed 29 Oct 2025

so those who are busy or out-and-about will have a chance to join in.

Please DO NOT post answers on the thread.

Q1 With the end of BST, George altered the time on the wall clock in his bedroom. George moved the hour

        hand of the clock forward one hour, then got into bed and went to sleep. When George woke up on

       Sunday morning, he looked at the clock which read 9 o`clock. What was the actual time ?

       What does A = ?

       

 

Q3 Which of the following words is the odd one out

         REED    STAR     TOGA     FLOW

     

Q4 A rope ladder is attached to the side of a ship at sea. The rungs of the rope ladder are 1ft apart and

       there are 8 rungs on the rope ladder. The sea rises 1ft evry hour. How long will it take for the sea to

       cover the rope ladder ?

 

Q5 Yard Convenience Store is open six days a week.

       On which day of the week is Yard Convenience Store closed ?

       

Q6 17 = 9; 18 = 8; 16 = 7

       What does 19 = ?

 

Q7 Which of the following words is the odd one out

         SEAT   GROWN    THORN    SHOUT   STEW

 

Q8 Mrs Jackson was fed up with her son Tom and his sister Tracey fighting, so she decided to punish them

       by making them stand on the same piece of newspaper placed on the floor in such a way that they

       could not touch each other. How did Mrs Jackson achieve this ?

 

Q9 If Archie`s uncle`s sister is not his aunt, what relation is she to Archie ?

 

Q10 A single track railway line runs between Uptown and Downtown. There is no passing point en route.

        Every Wednesday, a train leaves Uptown at 8 o`clock and arrives at Downtown on time; and every

        Wednesday a train leaves Downtown at 8 o`clock and arrives at Uptown on time. 

        The train from Uptown and the train from Downtown do not crash into each other.

        How is this possible ?

        Others read name of animal when read backwards - REED = DEER; STAR = RATS; FLOW = WOLF

Q7   GROWN - anagram of WRONG.

        Others are anagrams of directions - SEAT = EAST; THORN = NORTH; SHOUT = SOUTH; STEW = EAST

Couldn't work out the Yard Convenience Store question, although teatime team had several thoughts 🤔

Hmmm, the word shut was not in the question and rats is plural where all others singular.......

A bit of educated guesswork but yes the Yard was tricky, I worked out that was an anagram of DAY but SHUT- nah that escaped me!
