That's not what the article says. It's an old article, but it said that Microsoft was filing a brief in court 'in support' of Apple's claim, and that Google and Facebook planned to do the same.
Guidelines need to be set, and laws need to be made addressing just what governments, and phone software manufacturers, can and cannot do. There's a fine line here between privacy and the public interest that needs clarification.
