I just tried this on my iPhone (iOS12) using various VPN tunnels as an experiment. I tried France, Germany, Australia - All gave the same "something went wrong error".
But, when switched to a UK tunnel it works. One for the tech team to look at, some kind of "location" issue / restriction?!
@b4u2 you could try a UK VPN tunnel and see if it works.

Yea seems to be an issue when using abroad. I wonder if it needs a data connection (i had data roaming turned off as i was in Ethiopia) to find your account details.

Interesting, in my trials the app works with just a wifi connection, ie mobile data turned off. However, there does seem to be some location checking going off either / or using IP address data or the phones location services. I cannot unpick this though, the O2 tech team need to unravel it
