Did none of you check the link? It goes to a UK Business Forum where someone has claimed on Monday that they are in possession of 1 million email addresses relating to potential O2 customers within the past 24 months.

This needs to be examined by O2 to find out if it's genuine or not.

Actually @Anonymous  I did not click on the link. As I thought it was scam, that would be the last thing I would do

However as you have, then yes i agree it needs to be investigated.

Having said all that, if the Op had given a better explanation in their post I may not have been so wary.

Quite right not to click on the link if you're not sure! I could tell from the address that it was a link to a forum I've been on before...so was willing to take the risk

Hi guys,

I know nothing about the potential threat - was reading UK Business Forum - discovered the topic above and brought it here, might pay a visit to O2 shop tomorrow to discuss things face to face.

Hi @Anonymous

Well spotted, and if I had found the same post I would have posted it on here as well!

I don't think you'll get much sense from an O2 shop. I don't believe that they'll take you seriously or fully understand what you're talking about. Similarly you will probably get the same reaction on the phone or Live chat.

I'm not sure what the correct course of action here would be but I would hope that one of the moderators of the community, ie @Toby or @Anonymous could quickly escalate this internally so we can find out if its genuine or not.

Its easy enough for an ex-employee either from O2 or one of their associated companies to have swiped a database of customer details. However if this has happened then we, as customers, need to be told about it by O2 NOW.

Thanks for that @Anonymous I hope, as you suggest, that Toby or Chiara can escalate this.

Very worrying indeed:smileysad:
