What is happening to bt openzone for o2 customers?

From 1 July 2013, O2 customers will need to use O2 Wifi hotspots to get online instead of hooking up to BT Openzone.

Customers on O2 Wifi can access over 8000 hotspots across the UK and connect up to 5 devices to a single mobile number.

End quote

But if you have bt broadband at home and have enabled the sharing of your home adsl with other bt customers you can still access it using your bt login details and bt have an app for diferant platforms to help you.

There are many threads about this but ignore the comments from live chat etc the above is the true facts.

Remember that the wifi was not part of your core contract and could be removed at any time so no getting out of your contract etc.

As a Bt Broadband customer fingers crossed I should still have the best of both worlds.

I personally always have problems getting a connection the O2 Wifi even through the app and when it does eventually connect it's painfully slow.

More disappointing news from O2.

First they anounce they are transfering my homebroadband to Sky - now the "add-on" I buy monthly for my PAYG O2 mobile is effectively being downgraded - the tone of the e-mail this morning suggesting we could "just use" the new O2 wi-fi hot-spots instead of the openzone areas was a joke -unless you are perfectly happy to hang around O2 shops to get a signal (only place I have found works)

Are O2 purposly trying to loose customers?

Plus it also seems now they are planning to close UK call centres which was one of the reasons I moved to O2 for my homebroadband

Its all a bit sad - have been realitively happy with my PAYG mobile and home broadband services - but think it might be time to move else where

and we all wholeheartedly agree with you, It's a disgrace. Many of us on here have been customers for years will be leaving once any contractual obligations are fulfilled.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
Please select the post that helped you best and mark as the solution. This helps other members in resolving their issues faster. Thank you.

I use Bt Infinity and i have wifi within my 02 payg tariff but to be honest they are both a little glitchy at best.

Free Wifi has just been introduced in my home town which is stable.

I'd prefer to have a bigger data package than the 1gb I'm on at the moment.
