Could o2 worker stealing card details?

I switched to a sim only deal and they requested my card details including security number.

 

The lady on the phone sounded south african. It seems too much a coincidence but the day after multiple transactions are attempted on that card I provided details for. 

 

I phoned o2 fraud and they say it's normal to ask for all your card details and don't even want to look into it. 

 

I'm posting this as want everyone to beware of o2 workers possibly doing this.

Hi Wanny89.    I totally agree with you.  
I no longer trust o2 call centres. 
Weds I had a call from o2 to say sorry for the bad reception and offered a 40% discount on next bill. 
after the call I got emails and text messages to say Thankyou for ordering the new I phone 15 in pink.   It will be delivered tomorrow Thursday 28th sept.   I rang o2 and they said it may be fraud.  They would deal with it. 
I’ve even had DHL saying it coming 4th Oct today!!!!!   The guy had all my details sort code and account no and had set up direct debit without my permission. 
people please be aware 🌹

@Wanny89 Did you initiate the call? Yes O2 does have call centres in South Africa. So what? Are you saying that everyone who works for O2 has to have a British accent?

 

@Mazz1 There are constant warnings on so many platforms, including this one to never agree to anything anyone offers you on a cold call, no matter who they say they are. Did you give the caller a code sent to you? If so, you did give them permission and you were scammed.

If you think you’ve been the victim of fraud, and you obviously have– whether it’s because you’ve given details to someone over the phone, or clicked on a link in a suspicious text or email there are things you can do:
Contact your bank if you think you may have given out financial information. They can help protect your account and stop transactions.
Change your account and online account passwords. Not just your O2 account. All of them.
Forward fraudulent texts to O2 for free on 7726.
Contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
Call your Virgin Media or O2 customer services number if you think somebody’s taken out a contract using your details.
Virgin Media customers can phone 150 from their landline or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone.
O2 customers can call 202 from their O2 phone or 0344 809 0202 from any other phone.

You can block the number that called you, or any number you think may be suspicious.

it happened to me with the iPad and while the investigation is ongoing I lost my phone as the contract was switched to the iPad.

 

BIG WARNING: I THINK THE O2 COMPUTER SYSTEMS ARE HACKED!!!

What I don't understand is the purpose of this scam and why the contact could be added to my account without me signing the paperwork. I don't understand why the order wasn't cancelled immediately because I phoned almost immediately after receiving the emails about the iPad.

@Mazz1 You aren't listening. O2 did not call you on Wednesday morning. O2 did not offer you a 40% discount. It was a scammer and you fell for the scam.
