3G coverage in Northern Ireland

Anonymous
Not applicable

Why is 3G in Ballymena so temperamental.  I was on live chat with O2 at the middle of November regarding this and they said it was down due to bad weather.  Yet other operators were grand (wife is with vodafone)  now in January the signal is really touch and go and when I have 3g its very slow.  Im in the middle of the town and nothing is wrong with my phone.  Very frustrating.  Don't get me wrong, I am happy with o2 but this kind of thing is making me want to switch operator

Hi petesalive.

I'm sorry you are not having with the 3G coverage.

You can always use the coverage checked to keep an eye on any issues in your area.  http://www.o2.co.uk/coveragechecker

I have had issues with the masts in my area too - firstly it was around October when the 4G was rolling out and then last week the mast was down again.

I think there is intermittent issues with the masts due to the upgrades that O2 are doing to improve the service and give more people access to 4G.

What phone do you have?

Have you updated your phones software and carrier settings?

Have you been to an O2 store to have them look at your phone to check that it is working as it should?

There is a problem in that area right now, you can track it here:

  • Sorry we are experiencing high service demand in this area
A mast close to your location is experiencing a high level of demand for service. This can cause intermittent service for calls, texts and data. We’re working to improve it as quickly as we can. Sorry for any inconvenience.

There is very bad and sad coverage of 3G in Northern Irealand. Only couple towns like Belfast, Derry, Armagh, Newry have a good coverage
