Im new & just signed up becasue of my outrage about the new removal of unlimited
data on 02. my last bill showed 27 Gig of data in less than 30 days so how is the
new 500meg plan going to help me? i could use all that in 30mins & thats supposed to last me a month. JOKE. im leaving o2 now & taking both my contract to another
provider.

Its def possible to use 27gig in a month. Who cares what he does he pays to get unlimited so why not use it. At the end of the day 02 cant cope due to having the majority of iphone customers to themselves for long enough due to exclusivity. Now they have not got it so they know they will have to compete with voda, orange, tmobile and even 3. So what do they do? Cap the usage to 500meg and get extra income from data usage. I think 500m is a joke i use between 1-2gigs a month which is fair usage and all i ever do is surf the net and watch youtube on my phone.
See now I don't think 1-2 gigs is excessive but 27gig is which wrecks it for everyone.
By the way o2suck changed his claim of 27gig a month to a weekend!!!!

exactly!!!! im paying for it so why not use it. thats like 02 saying you have 500mins
but we will cut you off if you use them, they wouldnt dare. or in my case its like 02 saying weve given you some minues & messages for your 20 quid a month but were not going to tell you how many weve given you,,,, and if you use more than what we think is fair were going to cut you off.... would they do that???? NO.
so why do it on my data usage??? its exactly the same thing....

I laugh at the folks agreeing to the cap and saying they are a heavy user but never go over the 500mb, but to be honest don't believe your usage. If o2 had capped it at 2GB I would have been quite happy.
Over to you, lets see your supposed usage!

You usage is excessive, I understand your arguments I really do but you are partially responsible for the situation we are all facing so you have less reason than most to whinge, you have had your access, caned the heck out of it and now you are moaning - tough.
Whilst I suspect O2s decision is largely based on revenue generating you have not helped. After the publicity O2 received for the pressure the network was under did you do your bit and ease back? I doubt it.
So soon you will have 500mb per month and pay £5 for each 500mb thereafter so it will cost you roughly £265 on top of your monthly fee.
Time for broadband I think, like the rest of us and use mobile internet like most people do, sensibly. I read the news on my iPhone, send emails and do lots of things most do when on mobile internet but I don't come close to what you use.

I agree with you Bredan with one exception, what happens when Apple's FaceTime becomes 3G enabled?
How much bandwidth will that use for say a 5 minute call?
Say a mate rings you but you have to say sorry but I can't afford the bandwidth because your iPhone will also use bandwidth for the call, can't skype coz of the bandwidth, i'll text you instead.
My point is once all the of features are 3G enabled will 2gig be enough? Remember we will be tied in for 18 months min.

I make that an average of 136Kbps continuously, for 15hrs/day, for 30 days in a month.
Assuming you are not a total iPhone crackpot and addicted to it 24/7, then even at 5 hours continuous usage per day that is 408Kbps average.
What are you using your phone for to rack up 27Gb?
