number transfer

Not applicable

I've not long had an iPhone 5 but have not been able to request my pac-code from my old network provider until today so that i can keep my old number on my new o2 phone. I've just had a text sent to my old phone (which was 3 network) saying:

o2:Thanks for choosing o2 you will be set up on our network on 13/11/2012 Please switch off your phone on the port date until 6pm

Does this mean I am to turn off my new phone or my old one?

Also is it essential to turn off either as it is my birthday tomorrow and I don't want to miss any calls or texts which I may receive in the day?

They mean your new phone but you don't need to switch it off completely. Just reboot it (off/on) every hour. You will find it loses connection and will be reconnected with your old number later in the day, so you will have a period of time where you will have no network coverage at all.
