7:30am, I'm the first to arrive at O2 store in St James centre, Edinburgh. Yay, I should make it to work on time...
Here to order the Gold 64 5s on O2 refresh, trading in my 64 5 and taking advantage of O2 Open code on the airtime plan.
Online orders are due for delivery on 24th Sept. Wonder if they can match that in-store...
Anyway, don't foresee too many problems. 07:42 and still the only one here. Good for me; not so good for Apple/O2!
Hope its not too cold for you !
Let us know how you fare please.

Is there even any point in queuing outside an O2 store. No one is going to walk out with one

As it turns out, that was a waste of time...
I queued at the store to place an order for a Gold iPhone 5s 64. I had to queue in order to use the O2 Open discount code I have. I checked with the same O2 store (St James Centre, Edinburgh) on Wednesday that the O2 Open discount code would be accepted and they confirmed that it would.
I was the only customer at the store (which says a lot...). And here's why I didn't get a new phone ordered:
1) The store has zero allocation of Gold 5s, so I couldn't order that colour.
2) Wait time for delivery on in-store orders for the other colours is four to six weeks. Compared to Tuesday 24th as indicated on O2 online store
3) Last night, O2 decided that the O2 Open code would not be accepted on O2 Refresh contracts for iPhone 5S.
4) I'm currently on O2 Simplicity, and to upgrade I would have to do it over the phone. No upgrades through the website, so I can't even order myself the new phone via the website without effectively paying for two contracts at the same time!
So, all in all, not a happy chappy. I'll wait a few weeks and see how it's going.
If anyone's interested, O2 Open is available on the iPhone 5C in-store.

Morning alexjberry
What a disappointment.
We have heard on here that the Open Code could not be accepted as it was not last year on the launch of the iPhone 5.
I hope you eventually get the colour of your choice.
And thank you for the heads up on the iPhone 5c.

Just a quick one...I too am on Simplicity and I placed my UPGRADE order for 5s this morning on the o2 website at 8, no problems at all. I have to admit though, it didn't give me a delivery date...

Did anyone bother go to an Apple Store? Nothing at all in the (London) Evening Standard - there is normally a pic of people camping overnight and huge queues! Maybe they're not playing Apple's free publicity game any more?
As launches go this has to be the biggest PR **bleep**-up by Apple yet. My guess is they set the release day before realising that they couldn't deliver sufficient stock to the UK in time.
FWIW I ordered my 5S last night with an 'estimated 7-10 business days delivery'.
