Iphone 5 3G not working since upgraded to ios 7

Hello Guys,

I have had my Iphone 5 coming up a year.

When i first got handset 3g worked whilst it ran on Ios 6. Upgraded to ios 7 and thats where the issues started.

I lose 3g from around 10am - until 6-7pm on a daily basis. Checked my service in my home area and work area.

Initially went into o2 store...common fault apprently they changed my settings this should have fixed the phone. Throroughly annoyed over 8 months down the line still no proper working 3g.

Went into store numerous times, got told it was because masts being upgraded to 4G and that 3G service would resume shortly.

Then got told it was my phone, so went to see apple, they ran diagnostic Nothing wrong with handset, but as it seemed O2 where not helping the replaced my handset, i then started the phone as new not a restore incase it was a software issue.

Same problems occured. O2 at a complete loss. i have had a sim swap and also tried my sim in another phone. STILL DOES NOT WORK.

So i switch my 3G off on the handset and leave it on E and my internet is super slow, but i get internet. If my 3G is on i get the message 'safari can not connect due to your phone not being connected to the internet'

So in short paying for 3g and not receiveing. O2 also have no idea what they are talking about...i have been told now i have to wait until 4G is avaulable...didnt think it was on Iphone 5's O2 due to bandwidth??

Up until now i have lost nearly £1000 in work due to missed emails etc

Any help greatly appreciated!!!!

You are correct that O2 cannot provide 4G to an iP5, however, the 4G intro might help your 3g issue.
As this is clearly a network issue your only chance is to raise a complaint and see if they will refund you some money or allow you out of your contract http://www.o2.co.uk/how-to-complain

Have you tried your SIM card in another phone via a free sim card adapter ,to see if you get 3G at all. Of course that's if you have a spare phone.

Do neighbours / friends on O2 in your area have the same issues.

Unfortunately the networks cover themselves in t&c stating their service is not provided everywhere and is not fault free.

Yes, they have bob " i have had a sim swap and also tried my sim in another phone. STILL DOES NOT WORK."

After 8 months, T&C's or not, I would be complaining. Not guaranteing 100% service is fine for the odd outage but not constantly, esp if it has worked in the same area previously.

That's fair too @MI5

It is worth pointing out to the op what the t&c are so they are going into a possible complaint with as much info as possible.

The t&c as you know don't stipulate the 'odd outage' and only that they will fix it as quickly as they can.

On balance we have had people say that the network gave something as a Goodwill Gesture which is not compensation.

The problem only reared its head after Ios 7 update so i had 3G in all these places before hand. Other people i work with on O2 also with Iphone 5 never had this issue.
