At least there is a way to roll back. I remember the Samsung 4.3 update virtually bricking the S3 with no way to roll back without using a custom rom and it took two factory resets to get the phone usable again.

It is good Apple allow a limited window to rollback to a previous iOS firmware (personally I'd like the window to be longer) so a person can try it out for a spell but still have the option to revert.

To be fair...and yes technophobically speaking, I could never understand this limited window? Why limit it at all?...

Apple limit the window IMO for a few reasons.

To stop ios being as fragmented as other Os and have as many people on the same ios as possible.

To keep ios updated to help combat security issues.

To patch exploits being used by jail breaking teams.
