Can't access mobile Internet iPhone 5s

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi all

I've been I touch with O2 about this twice now, am a new customer with a new iPhone 5s, but mobile internet isn't working. The phone shows 3G, E and GPRS but has no connection. O2 have talked me through resetting the mobile data network settings but it's still not working.
Anyone have any ideas on settings and passwords that work or what I can do to get this working? It's doing my head in and I'm starting to regret massively moving from Vodafone, who although utterly useless weren't as bad as O2 seem to be!

Hi

Have you tried resetting the phone?

Press the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears.

Also, is your software up to date?

Do you have data included in your tariff ?
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Did you port your number as that could be the problem?

Hi,

The porting should hopefully have completed from Vodaphone Ok.

Possibly asking O2 Uk Customer Services to Reset your account may help.

You could visit an O2 shop and pick up a blank nano sim for your account type as they are contract or payg dependant ,and ask them to perform the sim swap in store.

Try checking your service status for mast issue : http://status.o2.co.uk/ ,unless the non connection to o2 data Internet happens everywhere.

Look at your APN settings just to make sure they are as they should be http://www.geeksquad.co.uk/articles/chapter/595-04-how-to-set-apn-settings-for-the-02-mobile-network

Settings > Mobile > Mobile Data Network.

Remove your sim and clean it. Can you check your nano sim in another iphone 5 or 5s just to rule out issues with the sim card or iPhone.

Another option is to have your handset checked out at your most local Apple store via a Genius bar.

There is no guarantee that it will, it took months to get mine working after a port from Virgin.

There have been many posts here about failed porting from other companies too.

having just upgraded from iphone 4s to 5s myself, i had a similar problem with accessing the internet when not using my wifi....couldnt log on to anything ie emails fb etc..after 5 days and lots of searching and resetting the phone settings etc...i found out i had to change the celluar data settings myself.

goto settings on your phone/cellular/cellular data network/

                                                                           APN           idata.o2.co.uk

                                                                           Username   vertigo

                                                                           Password    ..........

on the cellular data      change the APN to wap.o2.co.uk

on the mms                change the APN to wap.o2.co.uk

they should look like           APN            wap.o2.co.uk

                                                                              Username   vertigo

                                                                              Password    ..........

hope that may help!!!!
