My son is in Denver, Colorado USA for 2 weeks holiday.

I am wondering if I can text him at not too much cost?

He seems to be 7 hours behind current UK time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It will cost neither of you anything if you send him a text, however, he will be charged if he replies to you.

Texts are always free to receive anywhere.

Assuming he can find free WiFi, the best solution would be to use WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger @RunrigForever

If not, you can text him for free (assuming he has a UK number) but he would likely be charged depending on his contract...

Thank you @gmarkj

My son does not use WhatsApp, Facebook, or Messenger ... but ... my daughter-in-law does ... so ... I will contact her at a suitable time for them both.

Is that true on all networks @MI5 ? Didn't want to assume if he's not on o2...

Hello @MI5 @gmarkj

I have just texted the mother of my daughter-in-law and she does not expect to her anything from Emma until they are back home ... so ... I shall probably not contact my son, will make my mind up tomorrow during the day when I am better rather than at this end of the day.

Thank you both for your informative posts xx

Just to say ... ... ...

Have heard from the mother of my daughter-in-law that although their flight was not too good they are safe & well ....... they have been up a mountain in a mini-blizzard, fed a giraffe, peered over the edge of a canyon ..... so ..... they need to enjoy their hard earned holiday.

I did text my son and told him not to reply as he will be charged ... so ... win win chicken nugget all round.

Many thanks to all above who have imparted their knowledge, always gratefully received.
